Don't let your Friends & Family go to Hell - Pastor Joel Ramsey

February 10, 2025

In my years of ministry, I've come to realize one profound truth: what we do with eternity matters more than anything else. Recently, I delivered a message that weighs heavily on my heart—the urgent call to share our faith with those we love most.

UNDERSTANDING THE REALITY OF ETERNITY

The Bible teaches us several crucial truths about eternity that I believe should motivate all believers:

1. Hell was created for the devil and his angels - not originally designed for humanity
2. Hell is the consequence for unrepentant people - those who reject Christ
3. Those in hell will be conscious of their torment - a sobering reality
4. Hell is eternal - not temporary or ending in annihilation
5. Jesus rules hell, not Satan - it's Satan's prison, not his kingdom

But here's the good news that I cling to every day: you don't have to go there, and neither do your loved ones.

WHY I'M PASSIONATE ABOUT SHARING MY FAITH

I don't share this message to instill fear but to create urgency. As I often tell my congregation, "God is not sending people to hell; people are going to hell, and God through Jesus is giving them a way out."

As believers, I'm convinced we're called to be "ambassadors for Christ" (2 Corinthians 5:20), with God making His appeal to humanity through us. I've learned that sharing the gospel isn't optional based on my personality type—it's my calling as a follower of Christ.

HOW I SHARE THE GOSPEL EFFECTIVELY
THE GOSPEL IN SIMPLE TERMS (HOW I EXPLAIN IT):

1. Creation: God created a perfect world for humans to live in relationship with Him
2. Fall: Humans chose to disobey God, bringing sin and brokenness
3. Redemption: Jesus lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose again
4. Restoration: Through Jesus, God is making all things new

SEVEN PRACTICAL TIPS I USE WHEN SHARING MY FAITH:
1. I started with my personal testimony
2. I focus on the core message
3. I listen attentively to questions and concerns
4. I stay conversational, not preachy
5. I find courage to extend the invitation
6. I understand timing and readiness
7. I'm always willing to pray for people

WHEN I'M SHARING WITH CLOSE FRIENDS & FAMILY:
1. I pray for wisdom and the right words
2. I look for natural opportunities for conversation
3. I share my personal experiences
4. I remain patient and persistent
5. I invite rather than pressure
6. I answer questions honestly
7. I follow up consistently

TAKING ACTION TODAY
I believe that "the fear of judgment is like an alarm bell, the message of hope is like our hook, and eternal life with Jesus and peace with God is our message."

Every person I encounter—and every person you encounter—is heading toward an eternal destination. The question I ask myself daily is: will I have the courage to speak up and point them toward salvation in Jesus Christ?

I urge you: don't let your friends and family go to hell. Start today by praying for opportunities to share your faith, and trust that God will give you the words when the moment comes.

"Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God." - 2 Corinthians 5:20
